Our Story

Upon discovering a large box of beads, some dating back to the 1940s, among my late mother's possessions, I felt compelled to honor her memory. As a California native, she cherished the ocean and its coastal treasures. She taught me one of life's simplest joys of combing the beach for hidden gems. In April 2020, while confined to my home and grieving her loss, I embarked on a creative journey in her honor. It began with crafting simple suncatchers and evolved to incorporate recycled materials, including driftwood gathered from the shores of Central California-places my mother and I frequented together. 

In an effort to keep her spirt alive, I shared these creations with family and friends. The overwhelming response led to the birth of Zatara Designs, as friends expressed purchasing these heartfelt pieces. Since its inception, 50% of all proceeds have been dedicated to Alzheimer's research, a cause close to my heart. My hope is that one day a cure will be found for this devastating disease.
